These icons are easily recognized and easy to remember once you have been exposed to them. The astrology symbols are closely linked to the zodiac sign they represent.

Perhaps the easiest icon to remember is Aquarius. This is the easiest image to remember of the astrology symbols because it is represented with wave-like patterns that resemble water. Of course, you can relate the waves to water and to an aquarium as well. This water icon is a perfect representation of the water-bearer it represents.

Aries and Taurus are both quickly recognized astrology symbols. Aries represents a goat and its image resembles the horns on a goat’s head. Taurus is the bull and that can be remembered through the Spanish word for bull. The image for Taurus is a round sphere topped off with two bull-like horns.

Gemini and Pisces are quite similar because they are both twin astrology symbols. Gemini’s image resembles the Roman numeral II. Pisces resembles two fish. This is appropriate for the Pisces zodiac sign because the icon for the astrological sign is a pair of fish .

Leo is the lion and it is represented by an icon that resembles the lion’s mane. This appropriate image is clean and simple but it one of the most clearly connected visual representations of the astrology symbols.

Scorpio and Virgo are very similar in appearance. These two astrology symbols both look like the letter M. Scorpio differs from Virgo in that it has a “tail” that sticks out to the point of an arrow outwards. Virgo’s “tail” turns inward and has no arrow at its tip. These remarkably different astrology symbols are nearly the same in appearance.

Two astrology symbols that are very different in appearance are Cancer and Sagittarius. Sagittarius is represented by a clean, straight arrow that points up and to the right. Cancer is represented by two rounded spheres that encircle one another. The Sagittarian sign is quite masculine while the Cancer sign is feminine.

Perhaps the oddest of the astrology symbols is Capricorn. I know this because I am one. This image is represents the goat-fish. Yes, goat-fish. It isn’t the most attractive image on the planet but the astrological symbol itself isn’t so bad. It basically looks like the initials VS.

Finally, there is Libra. This symbol represents balance and its image reminds the onlooker of the scales of justice seen in many courthouses. These simple astrology symbols have stood the test of time. They will probably be around for generations to come.

The astrological chart is divided into 12 signs or Zodiacs, and each of them has different phases which correspond to the beginning, middle, and end of the astrology birth chart Zodiac. Each of these zodiac signs has different implications for your astrology chart, as does your position within that zodiac, and even the year you were born. There are other things considered in an astrology birth chart, such as where the planets were with reference to the astrological signs when you were born, and the movement of other stars in the sky, but your astrology birth chart will keep track of all of these factors.

I used to be a believer in the astrology birth chart, but I look back now and realize how niave it is to believe in astrological charts. An astrology birth chart may be detailed, but that doesn't mean that its true. The key to convinvcing people that something like an astrology chart is true, I think, is come up with the right combination of general statements and things that are apparently true, but can be read basically any way that you want to read them, and to have a balance between optimisim, and challenges in the prediction of ones lifes future course. Everyone is a sucker for a statement about how they have a great destiny, but will have many obstacles to overcome along the way. It lets them believe that something wonderful will happen to them, and that they are somehow special, but gives them an excuse in the form of “obstacles” for not having met with such success as of yet .

Still, it is kind of neat to have an astrology birth chart and it is hard to not fall for all of the great knowledge and sense of destiny which it can promise you. Who doesn't want to see his whole life laid out before him in a neat astrological chart which can tell them every answer to the questions that perplex all of us – why am I here, where am I bound, what does it all mean. And there is an elegance to the way that the astrology birth chart is arranged, with all the different signs representing different destinys, personalities, and even body types. But still, it is a mistake to believe in astrological charts.

It is fascinating to study the different horoscopes with respect to birthdates (and times) and find that each of the Chinese zodiac symbols are as close to being accurate personality indicators as the western symbols/signs are. It is also interesting to consider how the symbols extend to being used in something other than telling one’s future/luck/personality.

My favorite indulgence with Chinese zodiac symbols, for instance, is playing a game called Mahjong Garden, at Pogo.com. Each set won (or completed) yields a “reward” of one of the Chinese zodiac symbols anthropomorphized and spiritualized. Okay, let me clarify: There are twelve individual tile arrangements that you play. Each arrangement is in the design of one of the Chinese zodiac symbols. At the successful matching of all tiles on the board, an animated scroll appears, opens, and reveals one of the animals, holding an object that represents a phenomenon or human spiritual characteristic. Here are the Chinese zodiac symbols and their “gift”, as they appear on Pogo:

1st game—rat is the design, and the rat brings the gift of charm or jade, representing perfection
2nd game—ox is the design, and the ox brings the gift of optimism or apples, representing education
3rd game—tiger is the design, and the tiger brings the gift of sensitivity
4th game—rabbit is the design, and the rabbit brings the gift of humility or oranges, representing good fortune
5th game—dragon is the design, and the dragon brings the gift of energy or a green box, symbolizing harmony
6th game—snake is the design, and the snake brings the gift of intellect
7th game—horse is the design, and the horse brings the gift of popularity or cheer
8th game—ram is the design, and the ram brings the gift of love or the arts
9th game—monkey is the design, and the monkey brings the gift of energy
10th game—rooster is the design, and the rooster brings the gift of pride or a gold box, representing strength
11th game—dog is the design, and the dog brings the gift of noodles, representing long life
12th game—boar is the design, and the boar brings the gift of sincerity.

And with that completed set, you get a whole scroll opening across the screen, that has all of the Chinese zodiac symbols—all the animals. Now if we could only embody all of the characteristics of the Chinese zodiac!
